Super Contra NES, also known as Super Contra: The Alien Strikes Back in Japan, is a run-and-gun video game developed by Konami and released in January 1988. It is the sequel to the original Contra and follows heroes Bill Rizer and Lance Bean as they stop an alien invasion that has taken over an allied military base. Players battle mutated creatures and possessed soldiers across side-scrolling and new vertical-scrolling stages. The game supports two-player cooperative play, with Bill in green and Lance in purple.
